Are eyelash growth treatments safe to use?
Our team of doctors only recommend safe treatments including those approved by international government health agencies like the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Some treatments may have side effects. In rare cases treatments may irritate the eye. In these cases our team are on hand to offer advice, including application techniques to relieve irritation. If this does not solve the problem, you may have to discontinue treatment. If you have any further questions about safety, please contact us.

How do your treatments work to grow eyelashes?
Our team of doctors will recommend a treatment based on your individual circumstances. There are a number of viable options, including treatments which are clinically proven to extend the growth phase of your lashes, resulting in longer and thicker hairs.
How quickly will I see results?
Any product or treatment which claims to impact the growth of your lashes will require a minimum of 4 weeks to take effect, with full results visible after 12-16 weeks. This is because such treatments work with your growth cycle, which averages 12-16 weeks for lashes.
How long does a treatment last?
We expect all available treatments to last for three months with daily use as directed.
Are there permanent solutions for eyelash growth?
The treatments our consultants can offer will provide a temporary increase in the length, thickness, and darkness of eyelashes. This effect will persist as long as you continue using the product.
If you choose to stop using a treatment, your lash length and thickness will gradually go back to normal over a period of 16 weeks.
Can I use the same treatments for eyebrow growth?
Many of our patients use the treatments offered by our consultants for eyebrow growth and report excellent results. There is a growing body of literature from around the world supporting the safe use of such treatments for eyebrow growth.

What are prostaglandins?
Prostaglandins are a group of lipids, or fats, that perform several roles in the body. They’re derived from fatty acids and play a crucial role in various biological functions like inflammation, blood flow, and the regulation of hormones. These compounds are produced throughout the body and can exert potent effects on the tissues where they are made.
What happens if I forget to apply my treatment one day?
If you miss a day of your treatment, just apply it the next evening. Do not double the dose to catch up.
Can I over apply a treatment to get quicker results?
We do not recommend applying any treatment more than the recommended number of times per day. Doing so will not speed up eyelash growth and may increase the risk of side effects.
We recommend that users follow the provided instructions only.
Can I use mascara or other eyelash products while using a growth treatment?
Yes, you can use mascara or other eyelash products. However, please always apply any treatment first, and wait until it is completely dry before applying any other products. It’s best to apply it after you have removed your make up and just before you clean your teeth as part of your daily beauty routine.
Can I use growth treatments alongside a lash lift, semi-permanent makeup, or extensions?
It is entirely safe to have a lash lift or extensions while using a growth treatment.
Most treatments are water based so quickly absorb into the skin to reach the hair follicles, so there is no lasting residue which could interfere with any perm solution or adhesive.
If you are having semi-permanent makeup applied to the lash line or eyebrows then we would recommend waiting at least 4 weeks before applying. If the area is still tender or healing is prolonged then we recommend waiting longer, but please get in touch for more specific advice.
Are there any side effects to lash growth treatments.
It is very rare to experience side effects with the treatments we offer, and if they do occur it is often due to incorrect application. Trial data suggests that less than 2% of users will experience irritation or redness. Our customers experience side effects more rarely still, however, because we provide more precise application technology than that used in trials.
Are my eyes going to change colour if I use a growth treatment?
Eye colour change is very unlikely. In fact, of over 15,000 Mylash clients, none have ever reported this side effect from treatment use.
There have been reports that bimatoprost, which may be offered by our consultants, can change your iris colour (typically making it darker). This side effect is very rare when using the treatment for eyelash enhancement. It normally only occurs if you apply the treatment to the eye rather than to the lash line.
Who should not use lash growth treatments?
Lash growth treatments are well suited to most people. However, some people who have certain eye conditions, like uveitis or macular edema, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or who are allergic to bimatoprost or any of its ingredients may be refused certain treatments by our consultants. It’s always important to tell us your medical history so we can offer a safe and appropriate option.

Can a growth treatment be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
We do not recommend and will not offer growth treatments to those who are pregnant or breastfeeding. It is unknown how much of certain treatments might transfer to breast milk. Please tell us if you’re pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
Can I use a lash growth treatment if I've had eye surgery?
Before offering treatment, we will ask you if you’ve had eye surgery, including cataract surgery or laser treatment. We can assess the potential risks and guide you accordingly.
Can I use a lash growth treatment if I wear contacts?
Yes, but you should remove your contact lenses before application. Wait at least 15 minutes after applying any treatment before reinserting your lenses, as the solution may absorb into soft contact lenses.
Is there an age restriction for using lash growth treatments.
Some lash growth treatments are available under prescription only and cannot be offered to those under 16. Safety and efficacy have not been established in this age group.
What should I do if I get a growth treatment solution in my eye?
The lash treatments we offer either contain bimatoprost or an analagous compound. Bimatoprost, was originally used as a prescription eye drop for glaucoma, which has been tested extensively for safety when applied directly into the eye. This means the treatment is eye-safe and you do not need to wash it out. However, if your eye becomes red, irritated, or uncomfortable, contact your healthcare provider.
What should I do if I accidentally swallow a lash growth treatment?
If you accidentally swallow any growth treatment, immediately contact a healthcare professional.
HOW SHOULD I STORE a growth treatment?
Please store any treatment at room temperature and out of reach of children and pets.
How long does delivery take?
95% of our UK orders arrive within 3 working days. We deliver from within the UK and delivery requires a signature. Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Australia can take 5 working days or longer due to customs. There are no custom charges to pay within the UK. We try to avoid custom charges for all international deliveries but sometimes a charge is levied.
Are lash growth treatments safe for long term use?
We have clients who have used our treatments continually for several decades without any negative result.
We also only offer treatments which benefit from sound scientific studies indicating their safety. For example, bimatoprost has been used as a glaucoma treatment for decades. For glaucoma treatment, the solution is applied onto the eyeball in much greater doses (20 to 40x) without negative impact.
