What is Latisse?
Latisse is the American brand name for a solution of 0.03 mg/ml bimatoprost. In the UK, Mylash Growth Treatment contains the same solution.
The active ingredient in both treatments is bimatoprost, which is a prostaglandin analogue. Bimatoprost mimics a naturally-occurring molecule, which regulates the growth of your hair.
When you apply it onto your lash line it soaks into the hair follicle and causes your eyelash to enter its anagen, or growth, phase. The individual hairs grow thicker and longer than normal. The increased thickness often results in a darker appearance to each hair. The FDA trial in America for the approval of Latisse found that the eyelashes were on average 106% thicker, 25% longer and 18% darker than before.
Most users see results within 4 weeks but the best results take 16 weeks to appear. This is because the growth cycle for all of your eyelashes take 16 weeks on average to go through the growth phase.
Mylash Growth Treatment and Latisse both come in an eye drop bottle along with a pack of disposable applicators. The Mylash applicators are purpose-designed for precise application to the skin along the lash line.
Both products have been proven to be effective in clinical trials and have FDA approval for cosmetic use.

If you stop using Mylash Growth Treatment or Latisse, your lashes will return to their normal size over a period of 16 weeks. There will be no shedding of the lash.
There are suggestions that the follicle size remains larger, which causes the hairs to remain permanently longer and thicker. These claims have not been supported by independent clinical evidence.
